Ереванская детская железная дорога была обнаружена совершенно случайно, когда однажды вечером я шёл по городу и вдруг увидел под зданием главпочтамта тоннель. Не проверить, куда он ведёт, было бы преступлением.
Тоннель был длинный, но свет в его конце наличествовал. Стены были густо покрыты надписями разной степени изысканности.
Например некий Стив высказал на великом и могучем довольно интересное предложение в духе интернационализма и взаимовыручки.
Оказалось, что тоннель вёл прямиком в детский парк в ущелье реки Раздан. Чтобы местные джигиты не ездили по нему на своих "нивах", сооружение предусмотрительно снабдили шлагбаумом.
Как обычно, краткий экскурс в историю. Детская железная дорога в Ереване на левом берегу реки Раздан была открыта ещё в 1937 году. На вот этом сайте утверждается, что данное событие стало ответом на наглую выходку грузин, посмевших построить у себя аналогичный объект двумя годами ранее. Протяжённость узкоколейки составила чуть более 2 км, на которых разместили две станции (Айреник и Пионеракан) и один промежуточный остановочный пункт (Урахутюн).

Это вот главная станция Айреник (Родина). Для справки: Пионеракан - Пионерская, Урахутюн - Радостная. До войны вокзал здесь был деревянным, а в конце 1940-х гг. возвели новое здание, уже из традиционного туфа.
Из-за отсутствия свободного места вокзал стоит прямо над оросительным каналом.
Везде на сайтах написано, что тяговый подвижной состав представлен тепловозом ТУ2-116 и паровозом 159-434. Паровоз оказался действительно тем самым, а вот тепловоз обзначен как ТУ2-096.
Сейчас железная дорога уже не детская - работают здесь взрослые, но исключительно летом и по выходным. Состав из тепловоза и двух самодельных вагонов ходит до конечной станции Пионеракан, там останавливается и вскоре, не выпуская пассажиров, следует в обратном направлении вагонами вперёд. На промежуточной платформе Урахутюн остановки сейчас нет.
Тепловоз и паровоз с вагонами хранятся прямо под открытым небом. В мае здесь ещё ничего не работало, людей, не считая прячущихся по вагонам и кустам парочек, не было.

Здесь же в тупике стоит исторический поезд. Паровоз 159-434 и два цельнометаллических пассажирских вагона PAFAWAG. Это всё конечно полузаброшено и доступно кому попало. Мне конечно попало.
Паровоз исторический, тот самый, что катал детей с самого открытия железной дороги в 1937 году. Несмотря на заброшенность, выглядит в целом более-менее неплохо, хотя с 1971 года (когда здесь появился современный тепловоз) практически не использовался.

Вид в сторону платформы Урахутюн. Дальше я не пошёл, темнело, и я тогда не знал, найду ли я там что-нибудь интересное, кроме перспективы приключений на свою голову. А интересный объект всё же там имеется - бутафорский тоннель длиной 45 метров, по сути искусственная каменная арка , заросшая сейчас деревьями. Станционных сооружений на двух оставшихся платформах Ереванской детской ж/д, насколько я понял, по сути не осталось.
